Our Story

Hi, I'm Kalista

I'm an international student who graduated from OCAD with a degree in Illustration. You can check out my work on Instagram @kalista_white and support my art in my shop.

 

Living in Toronto as an international student, I've often struggled to find a sense of belonging, searching every day for meaning and joy. My experience with depressive disorder has taught me that

creating something new—whether during the process or upon completion—brings me a deep sense of fulfillment.

I find happiness in discovering small moments of beauty, and I hope to share that joy with others.

As an illustrator with a deep appreciation for handmade art, I’ve always been drawn to traditional craftsmanship. This love for artistry led me to incorporate techniques such as

14k gold plating, oil dripping, enamel work, and cloisonné

into my jewelry. Inspired by these time-honoured methods, I decided to merge my passion for illustration with jewelry design, creating a unique and innovative brand. My dream is to offer personalized pieces that allow customers to own something truly special. I want everyone who wears my jewelry to feel a sense of happiness and joy each time they see it.

And so, Almond Handmade was born in Toronto, Ontario, Summer 2023,

Almond represents Health, Beauty, Happiness, Hope, Good Luck and Fortune 🍀. 

Through this brand, I hope to bring happiness and hope to everyone, capturing small moments of joy and satisfaction through the art of jewelry.
